Why does a Giraffe have a purple tongue?
Some people believe that the giraffe's tongue is blue or purple in color so that they do not get sunburned from feeding all day.
Why does an Elephant have a trunk?
Elephants, unlike people, do use their trunks to help them drink, but they only suck the water part of the way up and then use their trunks to squirt the water into their mouths. The elephant's trunk is a combination of their nose and upper lip and is able to touch, grasp and smell.
What does the word Extinct mean? (ik-stingkt)
Well, in animal terms… it means gone forever.
Can you imagine a world with out Elephants?
A world without Tigers?
What difference do they make?
All of nature…(that also means you and me!)
Exist in balance… in a never ending circle of life.
So… if things (and animals ) begin to be missing from that Chain? What happens to a chain that is missing a link? That’s right… it breaks. All nature, animals, plants, air and water around us…Help keep us alive! So we need all of the things (and animals) nature intended us to have, to be around for a long time. What can you do to help?
It’s easy to be afraid of what you don’t know. So many people are afraid of animals they have never heard of or do not understand. Are wolves bad? Would a Komodo Dragon eat me? Wild animal have to be respected. You don’t put your hand out in front of a hungry Tiger! But we do not have to be afraid of animals we do not understand… you simply need to learn about them! Don’t worry about what other people will think! Read, study and find out what you can about animals.
“Only if we understand, can we care. Only if we care, we will help. Only if we help, we shall be saved.”
Jane Goodall ( a very famous scientist!)
